Dundy County Library History
Quoted from the Benkelman Woman's Club History dated April 1990 and compiled by Ida Toler and Shirley Baney.

The Benkelman Woman’s Club Library started in 1932 using space in the office of the County Superintendent in the courthouse. The County Superintendent, Mrs. Katie Logan, acted as librarian.

In 1937, the library moved to a room in the courthouse and was operated by volunteers from the Woman’s Club.

After years of fund raising and saving by the Club, they were able to lease a room in the Municipal Building for a permanent home for the library. The Benkelman Woman’s Club Library moved in January 1957 and remains there today as Dundy County Library.*

The Library, with the guidance of a Library Board, provided library service to the area with volunteer workers and money from memorials and donations. This continued until a shortage of volunteers led the Library Board to find another way for the library to continue to serve. They became a Public Library in 2007.
